More than two years after a devastating car crash killed her firefighting boyfriend and left her seriously injured, a Pennsylvania woman has graduated as a firefighter.

SHELTON - A 20-year-old man was killed in a single-car crash that closed Route 8 north for several hours on Monday, according to police. Oliver Armando Cruz-Ortiz, of Bridgeport, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by EMS personnel, Connecticut State Police said in a news release Wednesday.

The 15-year-old driving a stolen vehicle that struck the vehicle in which the girl was a passenger has been charged with death by auto, manslaughter and several related crimes, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday. The Dec. 19 crash occurred on Prospect Street at Parkway Avenue.
