CTA Red Line argument leads to stabbing, police say
A 34-year-old man was stabbed on a CTA Red Line train overnight during an argument. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition. The offender got away and no one is in custody. CHICAGO - An argument on a CTA Red Line train led to a man being stabbed on Chicago’s South Side early Sunday morning.
Circumstances around the incident weren’t immediately known — but a bus shuttle was operating between the Howard and Belmont stations, CTA said.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, officers were called to the 7500 block of North Paulina Street around 11:25 a.m. Monday. There, they found an unidentified 58-year-old woman unresponsive aboard the train, and she was pronounced dead shortly afterward. Police told the paper that Area 3 detectives are handling the investigation.
This comes as one North Side alderman is calling for people not use public transit at night until CTA can prove it's safe.
